Adding online help in a new language
Installed on your MF90 system, you will find a comprehensive context-sensitive online help system. The help system may be provided in a new language. You can then update your MF90 system with the new online help.

About this manual
The purpose of this publication is to provide the descriptions, procedures and detailed parameter explanations required to allow for safe and efficient use of the MF90 system. The publication also provides you with a thorough understanding of the parameters and adjustments provided by the MF90 system.

  - Installing a new version of the operating software
    A dedicated wizard is used to install the software. The operating software for the MF90 system must be downloaded on a separate computer.
  - Removing the operating software
    If you wish to replace your Processor Unit with a new model, or simply do not wish to use the MF90 system any longer, you can remove the software. Software removal may also be required during an upgrade.
  - Updating the online help system
    Installed on your MF90 system, you will find a comprehensive context-sensitive online help system. The help system is updated periodically. You can then update your MF90 system with the new online help.
  - Adding online help in a new language
    Installed on your MF90 system, you will find a comprehensive context-sensitive online help system. The help system may be provided in a new language. You can then update your MF90 system with the new online help.
  - Obtaining and installing a software license for additional functionality
    The MF90 system does not need any software licenses to operate. However, specific software license codes "unlocks" additional functionality.
  - Setting up the Operating Panel (Mk2)
    The Operating Panel offers all necessary control functions for normal operation. Before it can be put to use, the Mk2 Operating Panel must be configured to permit Ethernet communication between the panel and the Processor Unit.
  - Using more than one Operating Panel to control the sonar(Mk2)
    A secondary Operating Panel may be connected to the Processor Unit. This may be useful in conjunction with a second display if you wish to control the MF90 system from two different locations on your vessel.
  - Using a single Operating Panel to control more than one sonar(Mk2)
    Since the Mk2 Operating Panel uses Ethernet to communicate with the Processor Unit, you can use one single panel to control more than one sonar system.
  - Updating the Operating Panel support applications(Mk2)
    For the Operating Panel to communicate with the Processor Unit, certain interface applications are required.
  - Updating the firmware on the Operating Panel(Mk2)
    Whenever required the firmware in the Operating Panel can be updated to include new functionality or to correct software errors.

Technical specifications
The technical specifications summarize the main functional and operational characteristics of the MF90 system. They also provide information related to power requirements, physical properties and environmental conditions.
Datagram formats
The MF90 system can send and receive information to and from several different peripherals. All transmissions take place as datagrams with data sentences. Each datagram has a defined format and length.

Adding online help in a new language

Installed on your MF90 system, you will find a comprehensive context-sensitive online help system. The help system may be provided in a new language. You can then update your MF90 system with the new online help.

The following items are required:

USB flash drive
Computer mouse
Computer keyboard

In order to update the online help system, you need a USB flash drive. Your computer must have a suitable utility to unpack ZIP files. We recommend that you connect a computer keyboard to your Processor Unit.

It is assumed that you are familiar with the Microsoft^® operating system utilities for file handling.

The context-sensitive online help is provided using a WebHelp installation using HTML format. The help system comprises a large number of files.

Obtain the new help file.
1. Download the help file from our website to a local computer.
  - Click to open
2. Unpack the ZIP file and place all the files in a folder named HTML.
3. Copy the HTML folder to a USB flash drive.
Turn on the MF90 system.
Close the MF90 program.
Open a file manager utility.
1. On the computer keyboard, press ⊞ Win+E to open the file manager.
  or:
2. From the Windows^® Start button, right-click to open File Explorer.
Navigate to the folder with the on-line help files.
c:\ProgramData\Simrad\MF90\Help
Observe that the folder contains one sub-folder for each language. Examples are "en" for English, "es" for Spanish and "de" for German. Language folders may be missing. In such cases, the on-line help is provided in English.
Add the new help file.
1. Create a folder for the new language.
  Make sure that you use the correct folder name. We use the language codes defined by ISO 639-1.
2. Copy the entire HTML folder from the USB flash drive to the language folder.
Close the file manager utility.
Restart the MF90 system.
