Pages in the Display Options dialog box
The Display Options dialog box is used to specify basic settings for the sonar presentation.

In order to maintain a visual presentation of your vessel’s previous movements, you can draw these with a line. This line is drawn after the vessel symbol in the sonar views, and visualizes your past movements. We refer to this line as the History Line.

About this manual

- Main menu: functions and dialog boxes
  The Main menu is located at the top of the menu structure. It offers the most common functions for efficient use of the ST90 system. Unless you hide the entire menu system, the Main menu is visible at all times, even if you close the secondary menus.
- Operation menu: functions and dialog boxes
  The Operation menu allows you to control the operating mode, the recording functionality, and how the ST90 system transmits audio pulses ("ping") into the water.
- Display menu: functions and dialog boxes
  The Display menu provides basic functions related to the screen behaviour and presentation of the echo data. Use the Display menu to control the visual aspects of the system, and to show or hide various elements in the presentation.
- Setup menu: functions and dialog boxes
  The Setup menu provides basic functions related to the installation parameters and the communication with peripheral systems.
- Active menu: functions and dialog boxes
  The Active menu offers parameters related to current views and data presentations provided by the ST90 system.

  A key function of the ST90 system is its ability to export data. The purpose of the Output dialog box is to collect all functionality related to data output in one easily accessible location.

  The Display Options dialog box is used to specify basic settings for the sonar presentation.
  - General page
    The General page in the Display Options dialog box controls the location of the menu. You can select which navigational information to be shown on the top bar. You can also choose to see Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) at the bottom of the presentation.
  - Tooltip page
    When you move the cursor over the echo data in the Echogram and Inspection views, small "tooltips" are shown to provide additional information. The Tooltip page controls which tooltips that are shown.
  - Own Ship page

  - Vertical View Orientation page
    The Vertical View Orientation page allows you to decide whether the vertical views should be presented from right to left, or from left to right.
  - Off Centre page
    When the vessel symbol is moved away from the centre of the view, more space is made available for the echo presentations. If you keep the same range setting, this added space causes a "zoom" effect. The distance from the vessel to the outer edge of the search area is the same, but it is "stretched" out. You may not want this to happen.
  - Current Flow page
    A current sensor can be connected to the ST90 system. This can for example be an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP). The information from this sensor is presented in the applicable views. Use the Current Flow page to define key settings for the presentation of the sensor data.
  - Cursor Readout page
    It is often helpful to see information about the cursor and the active markers in the view. Use the Cursor Readout functionality to add information to the readout fields in the bottom corners of the view. When enabled, you can see the cursor's position (bearing and distance) and depth in the lower right corner of the view. The depth is calculated from the current tilt and the distance from the vessel. You can also place information about a tracked target or a priority marker in the bottom left corner of the view.
  - Presentation Modes page
    All echoes offered by the ST90 system are shown in rectangular views. Combinations of these views are organized in presentation modes. Each presentation mode offered by the ST90 system provides a selection of views in a predefined pattern. To open a presentation mode use the relevant tab on the bottom bar. Use the functionality offered by the Presentation Mode page to choose which presentation modes to choose from.
- Pages in the Environment dialog box
  Environmental parameters such as salinity, sound speed and water temperature all play an important part to present accurate echo data. Use the Environment parameters to define these values. Depending on the current sea and weather conditions, you may need to change these values frequently.
- Pages in the Diagnostics dialog box
  The ST90 system is a computerized sonar. There are hardly any analogue circuitry, and the possibility of traditional troubleshooting is limited. In order to rectify this, a built-in software application is available to offer test and maintenance functionality. The Diagnostics dialog box controls the test and diagnose application that checks the performance of the ST90 system.
- Pages in the Installation dialog box
  Before you use the ST90 system you must set it up to communicate with the relevant peripherals. Use the Installation dialog box to set up all interfaces with external devices, and to set up basic parameters related to installation and operation. In most cases, you only need to do this once.
- Pages in the Echogram dialog box
  The Echogram dialog box allows you to control the echogram presentation in the Inspection views. Two pages control the horizontal lines and the echogram type with applied TVG (time variable gain). One page controls how fast the echogram travels horizontally across the presentation.
- Pages in the Information Pane Options dialog box
  The ST90 system offers several information panes to provide additional and detailed data from the presentations. The information panes are opened and closed from the top bar. Several of the information panes are fitted with a Setup button. Select Setup to open the Information Pane Options dialog box. Use the Information Pane Options dialog box to change the operating parameters for the data provided in the information panes.

Technical specifications
The technical specifications summarize the main functional and operational characteristics of the ST90 system. They also provide information related to power requirements, physical properties and environmental conditions.
Datagram formats
The ST90 system can send and receive information to and from several different peripherals. All transmissions take place as datagrams with data sentences. Each datagram has a defined format and length.

How to open

This page is located in the Display Options dialog box. The Display Options dialog box is located on the Display menu.

Description

The history line shows you the historic movements of your own ship. The line is drawn after the vessel symbol. When the history line is active, the length (in minutes) of the line can be defined.

Select Clear History Line to delete the current line.
Set History Line Length to a value that meets your preferences.
Set History Line Length to 0 (zero) to disable the history line.

Related functionality

Minute Markers: The Minute Markers function adds markers to the history line. These markers indicate how far you have sailed in the last few minutes. The minute markers are shown as small circles on the history line. The Minute Markers function is located on the Visual Objects menu.
